“The Omission of the Coleman Family” is a comic and absurd stu- dy of an unconventional family on the verge of breakup that gives voice to the many eccentricities of contemporary Argentinean so- ciety. Three generations of the Colemans live together in a house where violence is regarded as normal and the bizarre is ignored by all. Illness and death are the trigger for change. But does anybody notice except those left behind? „With enviable finesse, and without technological fireworks or fanfare, Tolcachir creates a vividly living portrait of a large family, the whole of which is crazier than its individual parts. And with the sensitive, intelligent, but wilfully perverse Marito, he shows us a character who fails to see how much the family he pretends to despise actually gives him his identity and, much more, until it is too late. It is tragic, in an unspectacular, average way.”
