Remaining true to the artistic acting of Ljubinka Bobic and Mirko Milosavljevic, Zoran Bozovic writes the comic drama in which he pays respect to a decade-old friendship between Bobic and Milosavljevic, while, at the same time, presents the general fate of actors in this region. Skilfully integrating elements from Ljubinka Bobic’s biography, while unobtrusively planting them in her short and lively dialogues with Mirko Milosavljevic, Zoran Bozovic gradually paints a broader picture of the actress herself, her acting career, philosophy in life, and a time in which she was very popular and viewed as the public’s sweetheart.

The piece “The Queen of Laughter” is Nusic-like with vaudeville-esque tension in which the fate of a romantic relationship is determined – Ljubinka Bobic’s and, as stated in the script, Paja Bogatincevic’s. It seems, as if at one point, he left an unhappy and inconsolable Boba in favour of a younger, blonde-haired starlet with a bountiful, plunging neckline. And for those three days, until he came back, Boba suffered, screamed, drank, threatened, cursed, tried new roles, plotted… and all with the support of her unwavering “girlfriend”, Mirko Milosavljevic. That’s that, and not a gram more! But an adequate amount of imagination and reality assembled to form an elegant and soft theatre piece, not only about theatre and acting, but luck and misfortune, honour and death, old age and remembering and forgetting. Modern, worldwide modern.
